In the middle of an exciting season of Standard developments, 65 players gathered for the MIT Championship, Chinese Taipei's Regional Championship. It was the culmination of months of qualifying events at local game stores, where players started their journeys that would lead them to the Pro Tour or, perhaps, the World Championship. At the end of seven rounds of Swiss play and a single-elimination Top 8, Samuel Chang emerged victorious. Congratulations to Samuel Chang, Chinese Taipei's newest Regional Champion!

Samuel Chang

Chang played against Ping Chen Lin in the finals. Chang brought Dimir Excruciator, which has continued to be popular on the Regional Championship circuit despite losing favor at the Pro Tour, while Lin played Mardu Aggro.

Congratulations to the Top 8!

At the end of seven Swiss rounds of Standard, eight players advanced to the Top 8 bracket, where they played for one of three invitations to the Pro Tour and one seat at the World Championship.

The Top 8 showcased a variety of Standard favorites, including two Azorius Momo decks, two flavors of Izzet, and the four-color control deck gaining popularity as the control deck of choice in the current Standard environment.

At the conclusion of the Top 8, the Top 3, consisting of Samuel Chang, Ping Chen Lin, and Taoliang Chang, earned invitations to the Pro Tour, and Chang also earned an invitation to the World Championship! Congratulations to the qualifying players! You can see their decklists here.
