Magic Play

We've teamed up with our friends at Laughing Dragon Events to bring exciting Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes learn-to-play experiences to kick off pre-event festivities at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this summer.

Join us Thursday and Friday, August 13 and 14, from 5 to 11 p.m. at The Sheraton Park Hotel in Anaheim Resort to play some Magic.

Whether you're brand new and looking to pick up your very first deck, introducing a friend to the game, or are a more seasoned player looking to jam some commander, there is something for everyone in the play schedule.

Unsure where to begin with Magic? We'll have people on hand guiding you through learn-to-play experiences designed to get you casting spells and battling with Marvel's iconic Super Heroes and Villains in no time.

This event is open to anyone in the area, and D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event credentials are not required to register for play events or participation. Players can earn prize tickets for participating in play events and redeem them at the prize wall where you'll find goodies from our partners at GameGenic and beyond! If you have a D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event credential, you'll receive bonus prize tickets in addition to those earned through play.

• Learn to Play: Learn to play Magic with a 30-minute, self-guided demo utilizing the Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box.
• Avengers Academy League: Avengers Academy is a casual, beginner-friendly event designed to help experienced players bring new players into Magic. Players team up in a Two-Headed Giant event using Marvel-themed Welcome Decks in a low-pressure, learn-as-you-play environment, making it an ideal entry point into Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes.
• Learn-to-Play Fan Party: The Learn-to-Play Fan Party is a casual, beginner-friendly event to welcome new players into Magic over three stages. The first stage is a demo with the Beginner Box followed by a second stage where players battle with a Welcome Deck. For the final stage, players open three Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Play Boosters to show off all their cool new cards.
• Magic Presents: God of Mischief: Magic Presents: God of Mischief is a three-versus-one Commander event. One player assumes the role of Loki, the God of Mischief himself and has access to a set of advantages called "Loki's Tricks." The other three players assemble as the heroes and team up against Loki, braving the significant advantages provided by Loki's Tricks.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Toni Infante and Pauline Voss, two influential Magic artists, and get their products signed on Friday, August 14, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Attendees can purchase Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes products, discover their Magic color identity through an interactive quiz, enjoy gallery displays and a Marvel-themed photo opportunity, and get a special Shuri, Wakandan Inventor promo card with artwork by Kevin Glint with the purchase of a playmat with the same art, for sale only at the event while supplies last.

Shoppers who spend $100 or more in a single transaction at the Magic booth at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will receive one Command Tower promo card while supplies last.
