Wizards of the Coast

简体中文 | 繁體中文

Solve more than murder mysteries by diving into a whole new metagame in Standard Constructed, Booster Draft, and more by taking part in the many play opportunities available with Murders at Karlov Manor! Your first experience with the new set starts at your local game store but expands weeks into the release, with events spanning Wizards Play Network game stores and Chicago-based convention centers.

The clues found within are the general details on the extensive play line-up once this set has released, so let's not waste any time and dive right into the details.

Prerelease: February 2–8

Your first opportunity to play with Murders of Karlov Manor will be at a Prerelease event hosted at WPN retailers worldwide, offering you your first opportunity to open some new Play Boosters, assemble decks, and game with players of all types in a comfortable, welcoming, and local setting.

There's so much to talk about Prerelease that we have a whole article dedicated to it, which came out today. It covers everything you need to know about playing in your Murders at Karlov Manor Prerelease, including how to build your first deck with the newest cards.

Plus, there are cards to collect you can only open in Murders at Karlov Manor Prerelease Packs:

Melek, Reforged Researcher
Tomik, Wielder of Law
Voja, Jaws of the Conclave

Open House: February 9–11

New to Magic? Know someone who is or has always wanted to learn but doesn't know where to start? Let's solve the case of where to start… the best way to dive in is through Open House, a Wizards Play Network program that runs during a major Magic set's global launch weekend!

Open House is a great opportunity to bring a friend who has been wanting to check out Magic. WPN retailers worldwide have some options to run events that support the local community. This may entail running an introductory event using Starter Kits, or they can use something self-contained instead, like Ravnica: Clue Edition (Ravnica: Cluedo Edition).

Whatever the event, it starts a new player off with either a pre-built deck or one that is easy to assemble through shuffling two boosters together. These events are low-stress opportunities to get right into the fun of Magic. Stores can even offer Two-Headed Giant events to pair up veterans who bring a friend that wants to learn how to play.

Participants who use their Wizards Account to sign up and play in an Open House (or who create a Wizards account via the Magic Companion app) will get a retro-frame copy of Underworld Connections (where available and while supplies last). Additionally, an alternate-art Cultivate may also be available for those who bring a friend to learn how to play!

This program will be kicking off with a little Lunar New Year flair in the form of a special Sarkhan, Unbroken prize promo. Additionally, copies of a special Dragonlord's Servant promo will be available to participants in this kickoff while supplies last. (There are even more promos to come, too. Regional Championships that feed Pro Tour Outlaws of Thunder Junction start up this weekend with events in Brazil and Europe. These events will take place either February 9–11 or March 8–10 after that, depending on region. For a specific rundown of Regional Championship details in your region, refer to the event organizer's website below:

This round's Regional Championships have competitors bringing their best Modern decks to battle, with top finishers in each region winning Pro Tour invites as well as prize money. Prize money and Pro Tour invitation awards will vary by region, so check your region's organizer website for full details.

Participants in this upcoming round of Regional Championships will receive a non-foil Secret Lair prize card variant of Dragonlord Silumgar, featuring the artwork of WolfSkullJack. Additionally, top finishers will receive traditional foil copies of Silumgar.

Not qualified for the Regional Championship? You can still get there, potentially! Organizers run Last Chance Qualifiers the day before their Regional Championship, so check with your region's organizer for details on those events. Even if you don't qualify, organizers also run side events and other activities outside of the main event, so there's something to do at an event even if you aren't qualified to compete!

Regional Championship Qualifiers: Round 3 Ends March 24

The current round of Regional Championship Qualifiers (RCQs) are taking place right now, and they run until March 24. Play in one before then to qualify for the Regional Championships taking place May 3 until June 2 for your shot at qualifying for Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3 at MagicCon: Amsterdam.

This round has events being run in Limited as well as Standard Constructed, so bring your best to battle. With Standard Showdown events kicking off soon, it's also a good opportunity to hone your deck for these RCQs before the end of the round.

RCQs offer participation promos in the form of Secret Lair promos. For this round, players score an eyeful with a promo variant of Explore with art by BLUMOO.
